Facials, Scrubs and Toners

By Lisa Riley

Things we can use from home to cleanse, exfoliate, firm, replenish and tone our skin.

Honey

Honey can be used as a mask alone. You can also mix in a little lemon juice and or blackstrap molasses. Apply and leave on for at least 15-30 minutes. Honey and lemon are both antibacterial. Honey is a superfood that has not just internal but external benefits as well.

Lemon

Lemon as mentioned before is an antibacterial, it also moisturizes and tightens your skin. You can use this as a wash or mask. For your mask you can apply freshly squeezed lemon juice to your face for about 15 minutes and rinse off. I would recommend you not use lemon juice as a wash or mask on the days you exfoliate since it may sting quiet a bit.

Goats Milk                       Goat Milk

Well I read that Cleopatra used donkeys milk to bathe with. Since I am not able to get donkeys milk I use goats milk. I use this alone usually, but you can add honey to this as well to make your skin extra soft.

Baking Soda                         baking Soda

This has so many uses, I love using it, since it leaves my skin velvety soft. It’s easy to get and fairly cheap. It exfoliates as well as cleanses. You can make a paste with some lemon juice to lighten dark spots, not just on your face but all over your body.

Blackstrap MolassesBlackstrap Molasses

Blackstrap Molasses offers plenty of nutrients when taken daily. You will have great benefits for your face as well. Apply to face leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse.

Apple Cider Vinegar     apple cider vinegar

This is a great to remove dead skin. You can use this to wash your face. I would recommend you dilute with water since alone it can be quiet strong and may sting or burn. I like to apply to my skin with a cotton ball after I have cleansed. This is great for age spots and acne scars.

Almonds                              almonds

Yes, almonds can be soaked overnight then crushed and applied with milk to your face and rinsed off. A personal preference of mine is goat milk but you can use organic coconut milk as well.

Most of these items we already have at home. No need to spend big bucks on things that may or may not break you out. Try a simple recipe today and feel free to share yours. Enjoy your personal nature trails.
